Academic Counseling Staff Changes for Fall 2021
Academic Counseling Staff Changes for Fall 2021
There are changes happening here at school in our counseling department that will make our counseling team even more accessible than ever before. The counselors’ offices are moving! As one of our summer projects, we are in the midst of building a centralized counseling center that will be located in the heart of our school across from the Fraser Library. We are excited that our counseling staff will be more central and much more accessible to our students.
At the end of this school year, we said farewell to two of our counselors here at BK who are moving on to new things. Thank you to Mrs. Kane and Mr. Kristensen for your service here at BK and your care for our students. We’ve hired two new counselors to replace Mrs. Kane and Mr. Kristensen, additionally we are adding a 4th academic counselor to our team. Starting in August, we will have four general academic counselors, one full time college & career counselor, a full time registrar, and a full time service learning coordinator all located in our new counseling center. By adding a 4th academic counselor, our student to counselor ratios will be closer to 230 as opposed to being well over 300. We are very excited about the much needed expansion to our team and the impact it will have on counseling support for students.
Here are the Bios for our three new Counselors:
Matt Satchwell – Fulltime Counselor
Mr. Satchwell joins Bishop Kelly from San Juan Unified School District in California. Mr. Satchwell brings four years of counseling experience as well as teaching and coaching experience. Mr. Satchwell holds a Masters Degree in Educational Counseling and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology.
Lindsay Godard – Fulltime Counselor
Mrs. Godar joins the BK counseling team from the Nampa School District at Skyview High School. Lindsay is moving into her first position as a fulltime building counselor after 15 years as a high school English teacher and after successfully completing her Master’s Degree in School Counseling. As part of her 600 hour counseling internship, Lindsay has experiences in individual and group counseling, response to intervention and positive behavior support, academic advising and graduation, college and career planning.
Julie Netz – Fulltime Counselor
