Sculpture
Sculpture
Sculpture is an introductory course providing an opportunity for students to explore various artists, art styles, and a variety of artmaking processes that exist in three dimensions. Emphasis is placed on understanding the Elements of Art and Principles of Design as a basis for the framework. Students gain practical experience using various three-dimensional art media focusing on the sculptural processes of assemblage, reduction carving, and modeling to create artwork. In addition, students develop visual literacy and twenty-first-century skills through written, visual, and verbal expression. Willingness to get involved in the creative process and experimentation is a more important requirement than the student’s previous experience.
