AP Art Courses – Full Year
AP Art Courses – Full Year
Art is an intense and demanding high school art curriculum with exciting rewards for the serious art student. Students will share a studio with the most motivated and experienced artists in our school. Students will create a series of works in either 2-dimensional works (painting, drawing, printing, photography, video, collaging etc.) or 3-dimensional works (clay, wire, cardboard, plaster, assemblage etc.) formats. Works in each portfolio must demonstrate inquiry through art and design and development of materials, processes, and ideas over the course of a year.
Portfolios include works of art and design, process documentation, and written information about the work presented. In May, students submit portfolios to AP Central for evaluation based on specific criteria, which include skillful synthesis of materials, processes, and ideas and sustained investigation through practice, experimentation, and revision, guided by questions. The national requirements and examples of art works can be found at the following links: AP 3-D Art and Design, AP 2-D Art and Design, AP Drawing
