This is a participatory class consisting of classroom and lab work. The course will focus on learning about Bishop Kelly’s sports medicine team and how it is managed. Hands-on skills will include first aid skills, CPR certification, taping, wrapping, simple wound care, emergency procedures, athletic practice, management, and athletic game management. This semester requires 65 points (equivalent to about 15 hours) of hands-on experience in the athletic training room or at athletic events. It is not recommended to take this class during a semester where there are heavy extracurricular/athletic requirements.
Students may apply for the 1 college credit that this course offers through BSU, however it will not be weighted as an AP/DC credit for GPA purposes.
