When he was a student at East Junior High, Isaiah Friend made the decision to come to school at BK because of the competitive athletics, excellent academics, and Catholic education. Isaiah plays both offensive line and defensive line on Bishop Kelly’s JV football team, and wrestles for BK. “I like being a part of the football and wrestling teams because we work hard, we have great camaraderie and are very competitive. My coaches on the Football and Wrestling teams are knowledgeable, and create a winning environment where we learn how to be successful on and off the field.” Isaiah also enjoys his classes at Bishop Kelly. “I feel like I have the opportunity to learn a lot and grow as a student.” Some of Isaiah’s favorite classes at BK are US History and AP Seminar. His AP Seminar class is taught by Mrs. Armuth, who Isaiah says challenges him to think critically in her class. “We have great discussions and debates in her class.” He also really appreciates his Theology teacher, Mrs. Shirts who has helped him in his faith journey by being open about sharing her own. “The staff and teachers at Bishop Kelly care about their students and want us to be successful. Being at BK gives you the opportunity to excel academically, and to become a person of character and strong faith.”
